about

The third Chuzzlewit cassette. Sold a bunch of these for $1.99 at TD's LPs & CDs in Bloomington, IN and was told I should charge more. Came in a cardstock wrap-around sleeve with hand-stampling, which was how several other Low Voltage cassettes were designed. Eventually this came to the notice of Dominic at Earworm Records and "A Map of Maybes" was the result. The title is from the first paragraph of a Jean Rhys novel, and the cover photo was taken on the Westminster Bridge in London in January 1993. The long-lost nuggets on this one include "Sit Down Beside" which I've always thought turned out pretty good, although the the big finish is odd because I had to swap tracks around on the 4-track and cut the vocals before the guitars could come in, so it sounds kind of woozy. The cassette had a cover of the Shop Assistant's "Switzerland" which I am leaving off of this download, because I've always loved that song and my version wasn't that great.
